GTA 6 Remote Play on PC, Mac and mobile: setup guide

Prepare PS Remote Play for GTA VI on a computer or phone: console settings, account requirements, network checks and the difference from a PC release.

Short answer

PlayStation lists Remote Play support for GTA VI. PS Remote Play sends your PS5 session to another device; it does not install a native PC or mobile edition of the game.

The PS5 still runs the game

Your console remains part of the setup: it must be on or configured for Remote Play from rest mode. The computer or mobile device displays the console session and sends controls back. A laptop capable of running the Remote Play app is therefore not evidence that it can run GTA VI locally.

Prepare the account and connection now using the console interface or another supported game. That verifies your Remote Play setup, not GTA VI performance before its release. The GTA VI listing also does not establish availability in a separate cloud-streaming catalog.

Choose controls for your device

Sony's computer instructions use a supported controller connected by USB. On compatible phones and tablets, you can pair a supported controller or use the app's onscreen buttons. Device and operating-system compatibility should be checked against the current app requirements.

Check both ends of the connection

Sony gives 5 Mbps upload and download as its baseline recommendation and recommends at least 15 Mbps in both directions for better performance. These are Remote Play connection recommendations, not a promised GTA VI stream quality or response time.

Start with a nearby connection test before relying on access away from home. Mobile data requires enabling the app's mobile-data option, and availability can depend on your carrier and network. Watch your allowance: Sony warns that Remote Play can consume substantial data.

Your next steps

  1. Install Sony's PS Remote Play app on a supported computer, phone or tablet.
  2. Update your PS5 system software and enable Remote Play in its System settings.
  3. Enable network connectivity and network wake in rest mode if you want to connect while the console is resting.
  4. Sign in with the console's PlayStation account, select PS5 and check the connection near your console before using it away from home.
